BADIN;
In connection with to start a branch of
Jamiat-ul-Ulema, a meeting of Ulemas was held in May
1931 at village Banwan taluka Badin, Haji Ghulam
Muhammad presided. Meeting was attended by learned
men, political workers and ulemas. from various
parts of country. Amongst present were Moulvi Kazi
Ghulam Muhammad of Tando Muhammad khan; Moulvi Haji
Attaullah of Matli; Moulvi Taj Muhammad of Rip;
Moulana Ahmed of Badin Maderssah; Moulvi Muhammad
Hashim; Moulvi Imam-ul-din of Dando; Molvi Abdul
Rahim of Talhar; Moulva Muhammad usman. Moulvi Abdul
Wahab of Badin; Hafiz Allahdjno copy writer from
Tando Bago.
Proceedings of the meeting begun with the recitation
from Holy Quran and sanging of national songss
Moulvi Attaullah delivered his speech on the he
importance of Islamic Ideology and Moulvi Ahmed
spoke on the present day political situation of the
country, proceeding continued till mid night.
On the second day the session was addressed by
Moulvi Abdul Wahab, in the end following resolutions
were passed:
1. That, this meeting of Ulema propose the
following persons as office-bearers of
Jamial-ul-ulema Taluka Badin:

Treasurer
(Proposed by Moulvi Ahmed and seconded by Moulvi
Saeed)
2.That, this meeting of ulema proposes to enroll
educated muslims other than ulemas of this taluka
also, as to seek full co-operation from talented
people for the purpose of freedom of this country.
(Proposed by Moulvi Ahmed and. seconded by Mian
Ghulam Muhammad).
3.That, this meeting of ulema proposes Badin as a
Head quarter of the newly formed Taluka Jamiat.
(Proposed by Moulvi Mir Muhcaimad and seconded by
Moulvi Abdul Karim).
4.That, this meeting of Ulema appeals to muslim
countrymen to pressurize Government for appointing
Amir Shariat in Sindh. If the Government fails to
pay attention on our religious right, muslims should
be ready to discharge that religious duty.

Ahmed and supported by Moulvi Ghulam Muhcumad).
5.That, this meeting of Ulema appeals the people to
refrain from foreign goods specially cloth, and give
up habits of drunking and intoxicating.

Muhammad).
6.That, this meeting of ulema propose to organize
Jamiat on two lines, viz;
a) Wardwie, in Genral, and
b) Case and Cread wise with Moulvi from the caste as
its head.

7. That, this meeting of Ulema hopes that Jamiat
would chalk out programme to educate the muslims,
and in this connection this meeting proposes that:
a) Government should be compelled to introduce
compulsory education system for 5-15 age group of
our children.
b) Peoples should be adviced to get their children
admitted in schools, no matter if they are on the
distance of 2 miles.
c) Government should be compelled or an initiative
should be taken on self-help basis to open new
schools for the children having not educational
facilities on the distance of at least 2 miles

8.That, this meeting of Ulema proposes to prohibit
all kinds of Festivals for women
(Proposed by Moulvi Attaullah and seconded by
Abdullah).
9.That, this meeting of Ulema is of opinion that it
is obvious that muslims of these times are not
strictly following the way of life taught by Islam,
therefore Jamiat should appoint preachers for
teaching and preaching purposes.

Abdul Wahab).
10.That, this meeting of Ulema proposes that a
deputation of Jamiat workers should be formed, with
assignment of organization and starting of Jamiat
branches in this taluka.
(Proposed by Moulvi Abdul Rahim. and seconded by
Moulvi Abdul Wahab).
11.That, this meeting of Ulema proposes that:
a) Jamiat workers should be appointed in every
village.
b) Meetings of Jamiat should be held in every ward.
c) All branch office should be directed to submit
their
progress reports to taluka office as to prove Jamiat
as a well organized association of the muslims.. In
this connection, Secretary of Taluka Jamiat should
be authorise to inspect any branch and conduct or
hold meetings at any place.

All the resolutions were passed unanimously, and
Taluka was divided into 21 wards and two workers
were appointed in each ward.
KARACHI:
Under the presidency of Hakim Moulvi Fateh Muhammad
Sehwani, a meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema of Sindh was
held at the Garikha Mosque on 25.3.1923. when
committee of fifteen members was appointed to
collect funds and organized work to check the growth
of apostasy among the Malkana.Rajputs. It was
decided that Committee would start work to
counteract the propaganda of the local Arya Samaj
Carried on among the lower classes.

KARACHI :
An annual meeting of Karachi district Jamiat was
held in Feb: 1930 to elect its executive committee:

SHIKARPUR:
A meeting of Sukkur District Jamiat-ul-ulema of
Sindh was held on tuesday, 5th of September 1922 at
Shikarpur. Moulana Syed Taj Mahmood of Amroti
persided. Meeting was attended by Moulana Muhammad
Qasim (Gharhi Yasin); Moulana Ali Sher ((Ubaro);
Moulvi Abdul Hakim (Shahul Siryal); Moulvi Muhammad
Hashim (Ishaq Dero); Moulvi Din Muhammad Wafai,
Secretary Sindh Provincial Jamiat-ul-ulema; Pir Amir
Shah (Khan pur); Pir Khurshid Ahmed Sarhandi; and
Wadero Raza Muhammad of Mehar..
In connection with the re-organization of Sukkur
District Jamiat-ul-Ulema, following were elected its
officebearers:

1. Unconditional support for there cause of Khilafat.
2. Protest against the Greek preparations to invade
constantinple.
3. Protest against Jewish conspiracy for capturing
power in Palestine.
4. Condemnation of the conduct of Aman
Sabhai leaders working against the freedom fightirg.
5. Appeal for bye-cott of foreign goods.
SUKKUR:
A meeting of Sukkur District Jamiat-ul-ulema was
held on 9.1.1923 at the Banglow of Mir Awatshing
Advocate Moulana Taj Mahmood of Amroti presided.
Through resolution passed unanimously. Moulana Taj
Mahmood of Amroti was appointed Amir Shariat (Shaikh-ul-Islam)
and Moulana Hamadullah as Naib Amir shariat for
Sukkur District. These appointments were made in
connection with the desire of Jamiat to guide people
leading the lives according to the laws of Islam.
SUKKUR:
A meeting of Jamiat-ul-ULema was held on 28.1.1923
at Municipal Town Hall under the presidency of
Moulana Taj Mahmood of Amrot Sharif, It was attanded
by Moulana Ahmed Ali, Moulana Farooq Ahmed, Moulana
An Sher, Moulana Hamaclullah, Syed Asadullah Shah
and other learned men and Pir of the Sukkur
District„ Proceeding of the meeting started with the
speech delivered by Moulana Din Muhammad Wafai,
Secretary Sindh Provincial Jamiat-ul-ulema,, Moulana
Abdul Karim chishti, Secretary Sukkur District
Jamiat-ul-ulema spoke on the present day political
situation, Moulana Ahmed Ali was also amongst the
speaker, he threw light on the political duties of
ulemas,. Meeting ended with the election of Moulana
Muhammad Hashim as a Secretary replacing Moulana
Abdul Karim chishiti.
SUKKUR:
In February 1923, there was a big gathering of over
five thousand people in front of Minaret of Masoom
shah, Sukkur, where speech were made by Moulana
ahmed Ali Lahori and Moulana Din Muhammad "WAFAI"
Resolutions were passed reiterating the
determination of sindhi
Ulemas for giving sacrifices in the
cause of freedom fighting. One of the most important
resolutions passed was regarding the adoption of
Islam as a complete code of life.
SUKKUR
A meeting of Sukkur District Jamiat-ul-Ulema, was
held on 4.6.1924 under the presidency of Moulana Taj
Muhmood Amroti, Meeting was addressed by Moulvi
Abdul Karim Chishiti, ex-secretary of the District
Jamiat. Following resolutions were passed:-
I. That, this meeting of Sukkur District
Jamiat-ul-Ulema appeals ulemas of Sindh to pay their
attention towards British deteriorated economy of
Sindh, they should motivate the people and device
means and ways for the improvement of the stagnant
economy of our country.
2. That, this meeting of Sukkur District
Jamiat-ul-ulema directs all the signaturers to the
Agreement reached between them and Jamiat, to start
the preaching work as soon as possible.
3. That, this meeting of Sukkur district
Jamiat-ul-ulema appeals the people to contribute the
Fund, raised for the purpose of checking anti Islam
and anti-people propaganda launched by the vested
interests.
4. That, this meeting of Sukkur district
Jamiat-ul-Ulema is of opinion that under the
supervision of Sukkur District Jamia a central
Maderssah be founded and all the Arabic teaching
Maderssah should be affiliated with it.
In the end Moulvi Azizullah of Therhi, Moulvi
Muhammad Ismail of chak, and Moulvi Abdul Karim
chishiti were enrolled on their desire to work as
preachers for the cause of Islam and country.
THARPARKAR
At a meeting of Tharparkar Jamiat-ul-Ulema Sindh,
held on 20.3.1924 under the presidency of Moulvi
Muhammad Ibrahim, Secretary Tharparkar
Jamiat-ul-Ulema. Following resolutions were
passed:-
I. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-ulema Tharparkar
condoles the sad demice of National leader tie
Hon'ble Bhurgri, and shares the grief with the
family of the deceased.
2, That, this meeting of Jamiat--ul-ulema Tharparkar
expresses its deep sorrow over the Angora's decision
regarding the demolition of caliphate.
3. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-ulema appreciates
the determination and patience shown by, Moulvi
Muhammad Salih during his exile, and lauds his
services and sacrifices rendered by him for the
cause of Islam and independence.
THULL:
A public meeting was held on 11.12.1931 under the
auspices of Jamiat-ul-Ulema Thull, District
Jacobabad Moulana Nabi Bux Odi presided. After the
address delivered by Moulana Abu Muhammad Abdullah,
Moulana Abdul Karim Chishti proposed five
resolutions, on the following subjects:-
1. Selling of Quran by Non-muslims be prohibited.
2. Beggary be totaly banned.
3. Post-mortem of women be conducted by
lady-Doctors.
4. All the Legislative members be persuaded to get
above-proposed resolution passed by Legislative
Council and Assembly.
5. A book entitled "Faryad-i-Sindh" composed by Mr.
Haider Bux Jatoi be banned.
All the resolutions were seconded by Hakim Fatih
Muhammad and Moulvi Abdul Latif.
Second session of the meeting was held on 12.12.1931
and it was addressed by Moulvi Abdullah, Moulvi
Muhammad Ismail and Moulvi Abdul Karim chishti, It
vas resolved to form "Jamiat-ul-Mubalgeen".
(Preacher's Association) and following Ulema were

It was decided to hold public meetings under the
auspices of Jamiat-ul-Mubalgeen on first Friday of
every month.
WAGAN:
On the occasion of confirmation of degree (Dastar-bandi)
on Hafiz Moulvi Abdul Rahman; a meeting of Sindh
Jamiat-ul-ulema was held at Wagan, district Larkana
in March 1930. Meeting was attended by large number
of ulemas and members of Jamiat Amongst the present
were Moulana Karimdad Thorhiyai, Moulana
Muhammad Fazul-ul-Haque of Gari Kartiyo; Moulana
Khush Muhammad of MiroKhan; Moulana Ghulam Sidiqu;
Moulana Ghulam Farid; Moulana Makhidoom Muhammad
Afzal of Rohri and Moulana Wali Muhammad Thorhiyai.
Ulemas in their course of speeches stressed on the
revival and re-organization of Sindh Jamiat-ul-ulema,
in the end following resolutions were passed
unanimously:
1. That, this meeting of ulemas of opinion that it
is need of the hour that Sindh Jamiat-ul-ulema
should be revived and re-organized.
2. That, this meeting of ulema cf Sindh Jamiat
recognizing the valuable services of Moulana
Muhammad Sadik, Moulana Din Muhammad "Wafai"; Moulvi
Hakim Fatih Muhammad Sehwani and Moulana Noorangi
rendered by them in the field of Sindh Muslim
polities through Jamiat-ul-ulema Sindh, requests
them to take initiative to revive the Jamiat in the
suprem interest of the country.
(Proposed by Makhiddom Muhammad Afzal and seconded
by Moulvi Abdul Rahman).
3. That, this meeting of ulema of Sindh Jamiat warns
Government to withdraw anti-religious occupation of
Barrage Mosques and refrain from indulging in our
religious affairs, otherwise muslims of Sindh will
be compelled to serious action, and government will
be the only responsible for the consequences.

Moulvi Ghulam Farid)
4. That, this meeting of Ulema of Sindh Jamiat
declare sarda Act as prejudice to the principles of
Islam, and appeals the muslim people to voice
against the said Act, and prepare themselves to
discharge their religious, duty in this regard.

Moulvi Muhammad Suliman)
5. That, this meeting of ulema cf Sindh Jamiat
appeals the countrymen to give up all their
differences and irrespective of colour, caste and
creed unite themselves as a solid rock for the cause
of liberation of their country.

PROVINCIAL JAMIAT-UL-ULEMA(its
activities)
A meeting of Jamiat-ul-ulema of Sindh was held on
20th of July,1920 in Karachi, Moulana Syed Taj
Mahmood Amroti presided Hakim Fatih Muhammad Sehwani
Secretary of Jamiat-ul-Ulema spoke on the topic of
present day politics and advised the participants to
discharge their duties according to the need of
time.
Following resolutions were passed unanimously:
1. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema of Sindh
decides that a detailed Congregational recital (Khutibah)
be prepared for Fridays and Eid festivals which.
should contain important and necessary information
about Khilafat Islamia.
2. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema of Sindh is
of opinion that delegation of scholars should be
nominated, which should contact pirs and Mirs of
Sindh from time to time and inform them about
the importance of Khilafat Uzma.
3. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema of Sindh
regrets on the Imposition of terms and conditions
upon Muslim Caliph, and considers them as an
interference in their religion.
4. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema unanimously
decides that Non-co-operation movement in equivalent
to the religious duty.
5. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema of Sindh
appeals the Muslims not to avoid the job
opportunities vacated by political workers during
Non-co-operation Movement, and all Job opportunities
stand Haram (Prohabited) for them. Scholars of
Jamiat-ul-Ulema have already issued a fatiwa
(verdict) in this connection, and it be published
very soon.
6. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema of Sindh
appeals the people of Sindh to celebrate a day in
collection with sacrifices rendered by the workers
during the movement of Non-co-operation.
7. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema of Sindh
proposes that a conference of Muslim Scholars of
World should be convened, under the Patronage of
Amir Amanullah Gazi in Afghanistan, so as to pave
the way for the protection and propagation of Islam.
8. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema of Sindh
recognizes Sultan Waheed-ul-din as a real and
rightful servant of Caliphate and declares that they
will not recognize any other man including Sharif
Maki to be the representative of Islam imposed
through forcibly consent (Baeet).
9. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema Sindh
condoles the Sindh demise of Hamadullah Larai and
Moulvi Allahi Bux of Banho Lakheer, and Shares the
grief with the familites of the deceased.
10. That, this-meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema Sindh
expresses a lot of thanks to Amir Amanullah, because
of his services rendered fro Sindhi Migrants during
Khilafat Movement.
11. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema protests
against the unlawful detention of Pir Zia-ul-Haq and
demands that an impartial inquiry may be made in
this connection.
Meeting ended with the slogans of Allah-o-Akbar.
A meeting of Sindh Provincial Jamiat-ul-Ulema was
held on 11,12 and 13th of April, 1923. It was
attended by a large number of Ulemas, Pirs and
learned men of the Sindh. Moulana Moien-ul-din
Ajmiri was amongst the guest participants. Meeting
started with the dialogue and discussion between
prominent leaders of Jamiat and a team of Ulemas of
Thar under the leadership of Moulvi Muhammad Usman,
the latter insisting on the acceptance of
Governments grants.
In the end (on I3.4.1923) following resolutions were
passed unanimously:
1. That, this meeting of the Jamiat-ul-Ulema
Sindh endorses
the Fatiwa (verdict) given by Ulemas regarding the
foreign goods including cloth, that usage of foreign
goods will jeoparolize the economy of our country,
therefore, this meeting declares it
Haram(prohabited) for Sindhi countrymen,
2. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema Sindh,
recognize Amir-ul-Moomneen Khalifat-ul-Muslimeen
Sultan Abdul Majeed Khan Zil-ul-ullah Taala as a
real and rightful caliph, and reaffirms its
determination for the defense of Muslim Caliphate.
3. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema Sindh gives
call to all country lover muslims of Sindh to come
forward and check the evil designs of Sarkari
(Government's) Moulvies as well as Arya Smajajists
working against the interest of Islam and country,
and requests all country-men to contribute to the
fund, raised for the same purpose.
4. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema is of
opinion that the defense of caliphate as well islam
is deeply related with our independence, therefore,
our struggle for the freedom is equivalent to the
religious duty, and appeals our country-men to join
our hands.
5. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema Sindh in
opinion that delegation of Muslim Scholars and
preachers should be nominated to start work to
people real followers of Islam.
6. That, this meeting of Jamiat-ul-Ulema Sindh
nominates Pir Mahboob Shah to co-operate with a team
of Ulemas appointed by Pirs of Janda in connection
with preparation of Report on the problems of
peoples.
A meeting of the executive Committee of the Sindh
Provincial Jamiat-ul-Ulema was held on 15.7.1923 at
Sukkur under the presidency of Moulana Taj Mahmood
Amroti, where the following resolutions were
passed:-
1. This meeting of Executive Committee is of opinion
that a team of preachers should be appointed which
should work under the guidance of this executive
committee.
2. This meeting of Executive Committee is of opinion
that all preacher already working for the cause of
independence should work also for the cause of
Islam.
3. This meeting of Executive Committee is of opinion
that the judgment given by Moulvi Moin-u1-din be
published in booklet form for distribution among the
people.
A meeting of Sindh Provincial Jamiat-ul-Ulema Sindh
was held at Sukkur on 15.3.1925 to elect its new
office-bearers for the year 1925-26. Meeting was
attended by a large number of Ulemas, Pirs and
learned men of sindh

1. That, this meeting of Sindh Jemiat-ul-Ulema is of
opinion that the Head quarters of the Jamiat should
be changed from Sukkur to Karachi with immediate
effect.
2. That, this meeting of Sindh jamiat-ul-Ulema
authorises its secretary to appoint committee of
preachers with the consultation of Secretary of the
Executive Committee of this Jamiat for preaching
work in Sukkur and Jacobabad Districts.
3. That, this meeting of Sindh Jamiat is grateful to
its Secretary, Moulvi Din Muhammad "Wafai", for
rendering his services as a editor of "Tauheed", and
recognizes "Tauheed" as a organ of Islam and this
party. This meeting of Sindh Jamiat appeals its
member to enroll themselves as a subscriber of said
paper.
In connection with the holding of Annual Session of
Jamiat-ul-Ulema Hind, a meeting of Sindh
Jamiat-ul-Ulema was held on 13.2.1931
in Karachi under the presidency of Moulana
Muhammad Sadik of Khada. Meeting was attended by
Jamiat members, citizens and representatives of
Nizam-ul-Muslimmin.
Ad-hoc Committee consisting of the following persons
was appointed to start preparatory work for the
holding of Annual Session of Jamiat-ul-Ulema Hind:-

Moulana Muhammad Sadik was authorise to collect
contributions with the assistance of members Rs.
2-0-0 were
fixed as at least contributions A propaganda team
consisting of 24 members was also appointed.
In Connection with the presidency of the
coming session, it was decided to request Moulana
Abu-ul-Kalam Azad, the name of Moulana Hussain Ahmed
as proposed as alternative if Moulana Azad regret to
preside.
A Public meeting was held on 13.8.1937 at
Khalik-dina Hall under the auspices of Sindh
Jamiat-ul-Ulema Moulana Hussain Ahmed Madani
presided. Moulana Muhammad Sadik of Khada read his
welcome address which covered all kinds of political
problems faced by Muslim, at home or abroad,, When
he touched Palestine problem, this drew tears from
the audience, in the end he appealed the people to
join congress.
Following resolution was passed unanimously
including others:
"That, this meeting of Sindh Jamiat-ul-Ulema demands
from the Government, that the ban on the entry of
Moulana Obaidullah Sindhi and Moulana Ahmed Mian
into India should be lifted".
